Δύο ώρες πριν το μεσημέρι σήμανε ο συναγερμός της συμφοράς και του ολέθρου. Περίπου 150 Γερμανοί μπήκαν στο χωριό, έφαγαν πρώτα, στη συνέχεια λεηλάτησαν τα σπίτια και ύστερα αφοσιώθηκαν στο κάψιμο των σπιτιών. Ανατίναξαν μάλιστα και τη δυτική γωνία του Σχολείου την πρώτη ημέρα, ενώ την δεύτερη ημέρα μαζί με όλα τα άλλα ανατίναξαν το Ρολόι του χωριού. Ο απολογισμός του τραγικού αυτού διημέρου ήταν 20 νεκροί και 300 σπίτια καημένα.

Two hours before noon the alarm of disaster and devastation sounded. About 150 Germans entered the village; they first ate, then ransacked the houses and then devoted themselves to the burning of village. The first day they blew the western corner of the school, while the second day along with all the other distraction they blew up the clock in the village.
The results of this disastrous two days were 20 people dead and 300 houses burned.
