Καθαρά Δευτέρα στην κοινότητα Καρυών, Ash Monday in Karyes

Οι καιρικές συνθήκες αυτές τις απόκριες δεν ήταν οι ιδανικότερες για να διασκεδάσουμε και να ξεφαντώσουμε όπως προστάζουν τα έθιμα των ημερών αυτών.Το Σάββατο και την Κυριακή ο καιρός ήταν βροχερός με αποτέλεσμα πολλές αποκριάτικες εκδηλώσεις να μην πραγματοποιηθούν ή να γίνουν σε στεγασμένο χώρο. Το Σάββατο η «Τράπεζα Αίματος Καρυών» διοργάνωσε όπως κάθε χρόνο τον αποκριάτικο χορό της στην αίθουσα του κοινοτικού καταστήματος. Χαρακτηριστικό του φετινού χορού ήταν το ατελείωτο κέφι από όλους όσοι συμμετείχαν. Την Κυριακή το βράδυ ο καιρός δεν βοήθησε για το άναμμα της φωτιάς στην κεντρική πλατεία. Την Καθαρά Δευτέρα ο καιρός ήταν καλύτερος, και το σαρακοστιανό τραπέζι στρώθηκε από νωρίς το πρωί, στην πλατεία του Αγίου Ανδρέα γύρω από τη φωτιά. Με την παραδοσιακή φασολάδα και τα άλλα νηστίσιμα οι Καρυάτες αλλά και οι δεκάδες επισκέπτες τήρησαν το έθιμο της Καθαράς Δευτέρας. Την διοργάνωση και φέτος είχε ο Πολιτιστικός Σύλλογος Καρυών όπου μαζί με τους νέους της κοινότητας έφτιαξαν και πέταξαν στον ουρανό εκτός από τους χαρταετούς και πολλά αερόστατα.

The weather this Apokriatic weekend was not the ideal one for outdoor festivities, and to party as customs demand this time of the year.
On Saturday and Sunday the weather was rainy and as a result many carnival events organized did not go ahead or took place in sheltered areas. On Saturday the "Blood Bank of Karyes" was organized just like every other year, and the Apokriatic dance took place in the hall of the community Building. Characteristic of this year's dance was the endless fun of all those involved.
On Sunday night the weather was not helpful with the lighting of fires in the central square.
On Clean (Ash) Monday, the weather was better, and the Lenten table was prepared by early morning on St. Andrew's square where everybody gathered around the fire. The traditional soup and other Lenten foodstuff were enjoyed by all the Karyates and the dozens of guests who visited our village for the celebrations and festivities of the weekend and Ash Monday. The event this year was again organized by the Cultural Association Karyes and together with the youth of the community built and flew kites and many balloons in the sky of Karyes.
